Miss GSL and Miss GSL Teen 2024 titleholders.

Our Mission & History

Established in 2014, the Miss Greater Salt Lake Scholarship Organization is a 501(c)3 dedicated to giving women the opportunity to achieve their personal, professional, and educational goals through service in the community. And, as a local affiliate to the Miss America Organization, we prepare young women to compete for additional scholarship monies at the state level through the Miss Utah’s Teen Scholarship Competitions and at the national level through the Miss America Teen Competition.

At Miss Greater Salt Lake’s Teen scholarship organization, we are dedicated to fostering leadership, sisterhood, and essential life skills through community service and education. Our mission is to empower young women to realize their full potential, make a positive impact in their communities, and build a supportive network that lasts a lifetime.

– JennyLynn Meek, Teen Executive Director

The Miss Greater Salt Lake’s Teen Scholarship program, a sister initiative to the Miss America Organization, champions the core values of leadership, community, and sisterhood. By fostering a supportive environment, the program emphasizes the importance of education and community service, preparing young women for success in all aspects of life. Through mentoring and opportunities for personal growth, participants develop leadership skills, a commitment to service, and a strong network of sisterhood, empowering them to excel academically, professionally, and personally.

Advocating for leadership, scholarship, and community service is vital for empowering young individuals to not only achieve their personal goals but also to make a meaningful impact in their communities. Through these pillars, we nurture future leaders who are equipped with the knowledge, compassion, and drive to create positive change..

Jessica Adams, Miss GSL Executive Director

Why consider participating in the Miss GSL Teen scholarship competition? Our rich history and strong network of passionate advocates speak for themselves. Over the years, we’ve celebrated remarkable achievements, including four Miss Utah titleholders. In our first Miss GSL Teen competition (2023), Miss Timpanogos’ Teen, Kira Gardner, earned the title of Miss Utah’s Teen with our Miss Deseret’s Teen Brenna Torres winning the preliminary talent award and overall dancer award, and our Miss Greater Salt Lake’s Teen Laynie Anderson placing in the top-10 overall. Additionally, our participants have represented over 135 community service initiatives. We pride ourselves on providing individualized attention and preparation to help contestants succeed at both state and national levels.
